Some nice words about MarketGizmos...

Greg Isaacs, Director of eBay's Developers Program, met up with the Robert Scoble (aka the "Scobleizer") of Microsoft fame and happened to turn him on to what we're doing here at MarketGizmos.  Robert had a few nice words to say about us and we'd like to say thanks...  it's very much appreciated!

New Release Deployed - RSS Viewer

We deployed a new version of MarketGizmos today (8/15/05) that included a bunch of bug fixes as well as the release of our new RSS Viewer/Reader. 

The RSS Viewer can now be used to quickly view and see your SearchGizmo results as well as the latest CategoryGizmo feeds.  Take a look here.

Having an easy to use RSS Viewer a click away eliminates the need to subscribe to your feeds before you can see its contents and provides some instant gratification  If you don't like the results you can edit your search parameters, re-publish the feed manually and then review the feed results before finally subscribing in your RSS Reader.

Also, if you're a member of MarketGizmos you'll notice that when viewing your SearchGizmo RSS feed details we've added a snippet of HTML code that you can place within your eBay item descriptions.  If you're a seller and want to promote your items (by using a Seller SearchGizmo for instance) using RSS then simply add the HTML code provided into your listings and you'll be off and running.  Go to your MyGizmos page after logging in and then click on the "Subscribe" link in the "Action" column for any of your SearchGizmos and you'll see the HTML code snippet at the bottom of the page.

Google adds RSS Reading

There is much news coming out over the net reporting that Google has now added RSS subscription and reading capabilities to the Google Personalized Homepages.  The story is being reported by Micropersuasion.

After taking a quick look at it it really appears Google has a lot of work to do to bring their RSS features up to par with other RSS applications on the market today.  It's a start though and at least let's us know that Google appears serious about RSS technology.

eBay Hot Items Now Available via RSS

We're happy to announce that we've just launched a new CategoryGizmo type - Hot Items!  You can now browse some of the hottest items (we define a Hot Item as one with 10 or more bids) on eBay through RSS.  Each day we comb the top-level categories on eBay's US, UK, Motors, Australia and India sites and search for items that are showing a high level of bidding activity.  We update each feed up to 4 times a day so the information does not get stale.
